Dear friends of recom art care,

summer 2026 was shaped, for us, by art in public space, numerous exhibitions, and a find that had lain hidden for over 120 years.

Below is a look back at projects from the past few months — and a look ahead at what’s coming up.

From our CRUSE scanner to the roof of Schloss Bellevue

In June, FREIRAUM KUNST, curated by the Akademie der Künste, presented an exhibition at the official seat of the Federal President unlike anything shown there before — featuring works by Rosa Barba, Monica Bonvicini, Katharina Grosse, Karin Sander and Wolfgang Tillmans, among others.

One of the artists, Christian Awe, extended his large-format work beyond the interior spaces to the roof of the palace itself.

The basis for the monumental tarpaulin was a CRUSE scan produced in our studio. The resulting print file became the foundation for the work on display on the roof in June. Read more in our blog post.

Hermès Paris relies on real art — and on recom art care

In the age of AI, Hermès is placing renewed emphasis on artists and their analogue works — for window displays as much as for the brand’s online imagery. To mark the newly renovated Hermès store on Kurfürstendamm, the house hosted a special party in April: three train carriages were recreated underground. Their design incorporated a high-resolution scan produced at our studio, at 1600 dpi. This resolution allowed the work to be enlarged tenfold without loss of quality and used as a large-format stage set in one of the carriages.

A historical document, reproduced faithfully to the original and therefore illegible.

For over 120 years, the Madonna at the Partnachklamm gorge guarded a secret: a time capsule containing historical coins and a handwritten book. Discovered during restoration work, it had been badly damaged by moisture over the decades. The Bavarian State Library could no longer save the originals — but putting the damaged originals back into the capsule wasn’t ideal either. The solution: faithful facsimiles. These were produced at recom art care in Berlin. Since May, the new old time capsule rests once again in the Madonna’s base. Read the full story on our blog.

Looking ahead to upcoming events

From September 9, Bernd Rainer Mayer exhibits at Konzulát Studios Berlin (Leipziger Str. 61)

with his exhibition “Photographs at Crossroads” — part of his long-term global project “Uneven Lanes,” which explores genealogy, migration and geographic memory through photography. Curated by Prof. Michaela Köhler. The photographs on display were digitized and produced by recom art care.

Reception with the artist present: September 11, 2026, 6 pm.

The exhibition runs through September 13 as part of Berlin Art Week 2026.

From September 10, actor Thomas Kretschmann shows his exhibition “Short Stories”

at SLEEK Art Space Berlin — photographs taken between film sets in Los Angeles and Berlin. Many are being shown publicly for the first time. Moving between behind-the-scenes glimpses and personal observations, the series draws an instinctive, cinematic picture.

The exhibition combines older and newer works. The FineArt prints newly produced at recom art care were printed on Hahnemühle Hemp Gloss Baryta — a paper available in Hahnemühle’s range since October 2025, made of 60% hemp fiber and 40% cotton.

Opening: September 10, 2026, 6–11 pm, Alexanderstraße 7, 14th floor, 10178 Berlin — part of Berlin Art Week 2026. RSVP requested.

From September 8, MaHalla in Berlin-Oberschöneweide presents the group exhibition “Unruhe“.

featuring works by Ralf Schmerberg, among others. For the exhibition, we processed Ralf Schmerberg’s works and produced the FineArt prints.

Running in parallel is a screening of Schmerberg’s film “Indarella.” “Indarella” was shot over five years and 216 filming days in India. It is a film without a conventional narrative, blending documentary, poetry and visual art.

Opening: September 8, 6 pm, film premiere at 8:30 pm. The show runs through September 13, as part of Crashing Berlin Art Week I Off-Grid and Uninvited.
