The team – competence meets art

When museums, archives, and private collectors talk about reliable fine art digitization, they usually mean one thing: a workflow where quality is consistent, color is controlled, and every step is handled with care—from capture to delivery. At recom art care in Berlin-Moabit, our team brings together decades of expertise across high-end scanning (including CRUSE and DOM systems), repro photography, image processing, project management, and fine art logistics. This blend matters because professional art reproduction is never “just a scan”: it’s a controlled digital process that protects the object, preserves visual information, and creates digital assets that can be used for documentation, research, publishing, exhibitions, and high-quality print.

Below is the team that makes that work happen—every day.

Sven Schönauer – Digital Process & Innovation Lead

Sven Schönauer is an expert in digital workflows and innovation with deep roots in the print industry. He combines long-term production experience with forward-looking technologies—an approach that shaped RECOM’s fine art direction early on.

In 2002, Sven founded the RECOM ART department and helped set new benchmarks for art reproduction using advanced scanning systems such as the CRUSE scanner and the DOM scanner. In 2012, he moved operations from Stuttgart to Berlin, where he continued to push the technological evolution of digitization and inkjet print.

Since 2024, Sven has been leading recom art care in Berlin-Moabit, developing innovative solutions for fine art reproduction and the related project handling and logistics that institutions and collectors rely on.

Why the team matters in fine art digitization

High-end art digitization is a chain of decisions — handling, capture, color management, file standards, post-production, and delivery. Our strength lies in combining all necessary competences inhouse:

  • Technology (advanced scanning and controlled capture)
  • Craft (repro photography, image processing, visual standards)
  • Project reliability (coordination, documentation, timelines)
  • Art-world understanding (museum workflows, market realities, stakeholder needs)

That’s how you get digital assets that are not only beautiful — but usable, stable, and fit for purpose.
